Hi world,
My name is Dan Bruton and I am a writer. Well, I write, but I am not sure that makes me a 'writer' or 'author'. Over the past year since publishing my first novel, I have found that everybody is a writer, or at least wants to be. At first, this made me depressed and I spent several months staring at my computer screen with the mantra 'what's the point?'
All melodramatics aside, I am now inspired again to not only write, but read. I've spent a lot of time lately reading flash fiction (generally considered to be 1000 words or less in length), and I have found that reading/writing these type of short pieces can be fun, but also incredibly difficult and frustrating. Though, done right, 'flash' stories have become my favorite to read.
For this blog, I am focusing on 'flash memoir' writing. I have a couple pieces I am going to post, but after that I plan on posting things only from other writers. If you would like to submit something, please email your 1000 words or less memoir piece to danielbruton@gmail.com.
